It’s incredibly frustrating when the mechatronic unit controlling your DSG gearbox malfunctions, causing your once silky-smooth transmission system to become clunky, unreliable and an all-round headache.
That’s why we’ve developed a specialist DSG mechatronic repair service. Our lightning-fast turnaround times and formidable warranty will return streamlined gear changes to your vehicle quickly and reliably.
Why does failure happen?
The DSG’s mechatronic unit is a small but sophisticated computer responsible for driving the dual-clutch system and dictating appropriate gear selection. The mechatronic interprets electronic signals from the engine ECU before utilising hydraulic power to precisely engage the correct gear at the correct time. By anticipating and preparing the next likely gear required for the conditions, slick gear changes are achieved at eye-watering speeds.
Unfortunately, the mechatronic unit is highly sensitive and vulnerable to failure. Like a plethora of mass-produced automotive control modules, manufacturing defects inevitably cause the unit’s internal components to breakdown and fail over time.
The trouble is, these complex units are both incredibly delicate and expensive, making a DSG mechatronic repair no simple fix.
How do I know my unit has failed?
A DSG mechatronic malfunction will of course throw a plethora of gear-related faults your way. Initial clunking or jerking while shifting may soon develop into a total loss of certain gears – before preventing any drive at all. It’s common for vehicles to enter limp-mode too when they’re in need of a DSG mechatronic repair.
Warning lights generated by this fault may differ between vehicles – check out our specific transmission-related pages. Generally, you’ll be greeted by ‘engine’, ‘transmission’, ‘EPC’ or ‘PRNDS’ warning lights when starting up your vehicle until the mechatronic has been repaired.
We’ll thoroughly test your control module on purpose-built testing rigs to establish whether the DSG mechatronic is in need of a repair. If you go ahead with our rebuild option, we’ll even waive the small testing fee!
DSG mechatronic failure – repair or replace?
As you’ll know, a brand-new mechatronic unit doesn’t come cheap and there’s every chance it’s still laced with the initial manufacturing defect that caused your malfunction. A rebuild on the other hand, removes the fault for good, costs less than a replacement, and evades any reprogramming costs of a brand-new unit.
We use higher-than-OEM-standard components to aid long-term durability and extend your DSG’s lifetime. We’ll even cover your fully-repaired DSG mechatronic with an unlimited-mile lifetime warranty for further peace-of-mind. We do all of this in just 2-3 working days!
We offer our test-and-rebuild service for the following mechatronic units:
DQ200
The DQ200 model is a 7-speed DSG that utilises a dry-clutch system. This gearbox is typically fitted to post-2008 VAG cars with 2.0 litre and below engines.
DQ250
The DQ250 is a 6-speed transmission unit that incorporates a wet-clutch design. It is fitted to an array of VAG models manufactured post-2003. When this mechatronic malfunctions it is known to force the vehicle into ‘limp-home mode’.
DQ380/DQ381
The DQ381 is a 7-speed wet-clutch transmission type commonly fitted to front and all-wheel drive vehicles on the MQB platform.
DQ380/DQ381 mechatronic malfunction has been known to cause a complete loss of drive in some cases, or force the gearbox into ‘safe mode’ – which restricts the vehicle’s RPM and gear shifting ability.
DL501 (Audi S Tronic)
This 7-speed longitudinal DSG transmission, often referred to as the S-Tronic, is fitted to a wide-range of Audi vehicles manufactured within the last 15 years. Failure of this mechatronic is known to illuminate the PRNDS warning light before preventing gear selection.
Test and rebuild:
Our highly-experienced technicians will test your mechatronic unit before and after the rebuild process. This is done with our HIL (Hardware In-The-Loop) testing rigs which simulate real-world driving conditions such as speed, load and temperature. Once we’ve identified the root cause of the issue, we will repair your mechatronic with components of a higher quality than OEM standard.
Programming:
It's not necessary for you to go to reprogram your repaired mechatronic when you receive it back because all coding information previously stored in the unit is retained throughout our repair process.
Quality:
We pride ourselves on our quality standards, this is demonstrated by our company defect rate of 0.49%. As a result, we are the chosen supplier of control module remanufacturing services for specialists worldwide.
Warranty:
Lifetime unlimited mileage*
