C123EF0 – Hydraulic Brake Booster Limit Value Reached Explained

c123ef0, c123ef0 - hydraulic brake booster limit value reached

Audi vehicles, manufactured between the years 2010 to 2020, commonly experience ABS failure which will cause the fault code C123EF0 – Hydraulic Brake Booster Limit Value Reached to be permanently stored within the ABS system. The C123EF0 fault will be discovered through conducting diagnostic tests on the vehicle, and will not be able to be cleared until the ABS fault has been rectified.

What are the Symptoms of C123EF0?

The C123EF0 fault code in Audi vehicles will commonly manifest with an illuminated ABS warning light on the dashboard, often accompanied by a traction control light. Once the ABS system fails, an error message reading ‘brake system fault stop carefully’ will be present, due to the faulty ABS, there will be a loss of emergency braking functionality, leaving the Audi to rely on standard braking capabilities.

Causes of the C123EF0 fault code:

C123EF0 is primarily caused by a failing Bosch ABS unit, which is often the result of an internal malfunction that can stem from a few specific problems, such as:

  1. Failure of the Brake Vacuum System: One common cause of the C123EF0 – Hydraulic Brake Booster Limit Value Reached, as indicated by its description, is a defect in the brake servo system. Once this fault develops, it will cause a defect within the ABS pump and module, triggering the C123EF0 fault that will be detected via diagnostic scans.

  1. Manufacturing & Design Flaws: ABS units are particularly susceptible to developing manufacturing defects, which will result in the module becoming prone to failing earlier in its life cycle. These defects can be exacerbated by internal electrical problems within the vehicle, such as spikes in power or voltage, leading to damaged components.
