Volkswagen Transporter T5 ABS pump fault

Volkswagen Transporter T5 ABS pump fault

This ABS pump and module for the Volkswagen T5 Transporter is a commonly failing part that will cause the constant illumination of the ABS and Traction Control warning lights and an audible beeping on starting the vehicle. In addition to these warning lights; the Handbrake light will flash, the speedometer will become inoperative and the fuel gauge may become erratic.

Commonly the internal malfunction of these VW T5 ABS pumps will cause codes to be logged for 00285 – ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Front Right, 00290 – ABS Wheel Speed Sensor Rear Left and 01276 – ABS Hydraulic Pump V64 Malfunction, or ultimately it may simply fail to communicate full stop giving a clear indication of failure.

Whilst standard braking will still be in effect, the emergency braking system will not function while these faults are present. To resolve these Transporter T5 and VW T-Porter ABS issues supplying and fitting a brand new unit is not the right way to go.

Our solution, however, is a much more economical approach of rebuilding the original unit for a fraction of the cost of a new unit. This will also remove the cost of programming a new unit to the vehicle as we retain all the coded information, so no need for programming – simply refit and away you go. Unlike the short one-year manufacturer warranty, all of our rebuilds carry an unlimited mileage lifetime warranty.

Test and rebuild:

During testing the VW T5 Transporter ABS unit is run on our state of the art, custom built HIL (Hardware In-the-Loop) testing rig. The ABS will be tested under real-world load and driving conditions, which will identify any faults within the unit. Once all internal faults have been identified, our technicians will rebuild the unit and replace all commonly failing components with versions that are higher rated than standard, and then extensively re-test to ensure that no faults remain.

Programming:

This unit is coded on installation to the vehicle, however, during the testing and rebuilding process we retain all coding so that the ABS is ready to go, once it is physically installed back onto the vehicle.

Quality:

Our strict quality control ensures that only the highest level of work is carried out, in order to meet our lifetime warranty standards, which results in a defect rate of 0.49% on all of our rebuilds. My abs has the code 01130, and I cannot perform any output tests. Message says requirements not met. The part number is 7H0 614 111 G, is this rebuildable?
ECU Admin says: 25/03/2024 09:27:17
Hi Ian, we can certainly look at that for you. The rebuild page for your model is here https://www.ecutesting.com/product-catalogue/volkswagen/transporter-t5/abs-pump-ecumodule-combined/amc03173g/

ECU Admin says: 19/04/2022 10:01:02
Hi, we certainly do for the majority, just double check your part number online once you have removed it.
Miles Chislett says: 07/07/2019 21:04:14
Can I send just module without pump? What would total cost be with testing and repair - fault code 01130 not a plausible signal. Thanks Miles
ECU Admin says: 08/07/2019 10:14:06
Hi Miles, we would recommend sending the whole unit in (including the hydro-pump) as sometimes the Hydro-pump is also faulty with the fault code you mention.
